Payments

Update as of November 13, 2024: The Claims Administrator has processed all the claims and issued all final decision letters.

All approved one-time payments of $1,000 CAD for health services (such as counselling), which has been received or will be sought, have been issued via EFT or cheque.

All approved one-time Family Law Act payments (“the FLA Fund”) in the amount of $2,500.00 CAD (maximum amount) were issued by September 18, 2023 via cheque or EFT.

All approved one-time Student Fund payments were issued by September 18, 2023, via EFT or cheque. The approved Student Fund claimants received $20,243.03 CAD per approved point, in accordance with the Court approved Distribution Protocol.

As there were additional Student Funds to distribute, a second one-time Student Fund distribution was completed by November 30, 2023. All approved Student Fund claimants received an additional $2,389.46 CAD per approved point, in accordance with the Court approved Distribution Protocol, via EFT or cheque.

As there were additional Student Funds to distribute, a third and final one-time Student Fund distribution is underway and is expected to be completed by November 15, 2024. All approved Student Fund claimants will receive an additional $147.72 CAD per approved point, in accordance with the Court approved Distribution Protocol, via EFT or cheque. If payment is sent via cheque, cash your cheque before the stale-date.

Please note that pursuant to the Court approved Distribution Protocol, the payments are not taxable, as they are compensation for pain and suffering, and not for loss of income.
